Tomato and basil pasta
Warm dinner in half an hour: rich tomato sauce, fragrant basil and just a little parmesan.

How to make it
Prepared 0 of 5 steps
Let the pasta cook
Boil water, add salt and cook penne according to package instructions until al dente. Save a small cup of the cooking water before draining.
Start making the sauce
Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Add finely chopped garlic and heat for 30-40 seconds, without letting it darken.
Add tomatoes
Place the tomatoes along with the juice, mash the large pieces with a spatula. Simmer over moderate heat for 10–12 minutes and add salt to taste.
Combine pasta and sauce
Add penne to the pan. Stir and heat for a minute. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved cooking water.
Add the finishing touches
Remove from heat, add torn basil leaves and grated Parmesan. Serve immediately while the sauce coats the hot pasta.
Little hint
The pasta cooking water helps smooth the sauce. Add it in small portions so that the sauce does not become too liquid.
